Crime & Trauma Scenes

Crime and trauma scene cleanup, handled quietly.

Police clear the scene. They do not clean it. That falls to whoever owns the property — which is usually the family. It should not. Call us instead, at any hour.

A crime or trauma scene is a biological hazard before it is anything else. Blood and other potentially infectious material can carry bloodborne pathogens, it soaks through flooring and subfloor faster than most people expect, and household cleaners do not reliably neutralize it. It also cannot go out with the household trash.

Biotech Recovery handles the entire remediation: containment, removal of contaminated porous material, cleaning and hospital-grade disinfection of every affected surface, odor treatment, and transport of the waste through permitted disposal channels. We arrive in unmarked vehicles, we do not discuss the job on the doorstep, and we leave the property in a condition you can walk back into.

We work with families, landlords, property managers, municipalities and funeral directors across Nassau, Suffolk and all five boroughs — including homicides, suicides, unattended deaths, industrial accidents and vehicle incidents.

What the job includes

  • Containment and PPE

The affected area is isolated before anything is touched, so contamination does not travel through the rest of the property.

  • Removal of contaminated material

Porous material that cannot be decontaminated — carpet, padding, subfloor, upholstery, drywall — is cut out and removed.

  • Cleaning and disinfection

Every affected and adjacent surface is cleaned and treated with hospital-grade disinfectant, then checked.

  • Odor treatment

Decomposition odor soaks into porous material, so masking it does nothing. We treat the source first, then the air.

  • Disposal and documentation

Waste is manifested and disposed of through permitted channels, and you get the paperwork for your insurer.

When to call us

  • A death has occurred at a property and the scene has been released by law enforcement.
  • There is visible blood, tissue or bodily fluid on floors, walls, furniture or in a vehicle.
  • A body was not discovered immediately and there is odor or staining.
  • A tenant, resident or employee has been injured and the area needs to be made safe before reuse.
  • You have been told by police, a funeral director or an insurer to arrange biohazard remediation.

FAQ

Common questions

How soon can you get here after the police release the scene?
Usually the same day, and often within a few hours depending on where you are and what is already in progress. Call as soon as the scene is released. The sooner remediation starts, the less material has to be removed.
Do you use unmarked vehicles?
Always. There is no branding on our vehicles and no signage placed at the property. Neighbors have no reason to know what happened.
Will my homeowners insurance cover this?
Biohazard remediation is frequently covered under homeowners, renters and commercial property policies, and vehicle incidents are often covered under comprehensive auto. We document scope, materials and disposal so your carrier has what it needs, and we will give you an honest read on the claim before you commit.
What happens to personal belongings?
Anything salvageable is set aside for you. Nothing gets discarded to save time, and valuables are flagged and handed back.
Can we be in the house while you work?
You can be on the property, but not in the containment area. Most families prefer to be elsewhere. We will keep you updated and walk you through the space at the end.
