Suicide cleanup handled with care, privacy, and respect.
After a suicide, the last thing a family should have to think about is cleaning the scene. Once law enforcement releases the property, Biotech Recovery can take over the physical cleanup — removing biological contamination, treating affected surfaces, handling contaminated materials and managing biohazardous waste.
A suicide can leave behind far more than the emotional impact on the people who knew the person. Blood, bodily fluids and other biological materials may remain on floors, walls, furniture, mattresses, vehicles or other surfaces. Those materials can present exposure risks and may continue to affect the property until they are professionally removed and the affected areas are properly decontaminated.
Biotech Recovery provides specialized suicide cleanup services after law enforcement has completed its investigation and released the scene. Our role is to handle the physical remediation so families do not have to enter the affected area, determine what can be salvaged, or figure out how contaminated materials should be removed and disposed of.
We begin by assessing the scene and establishing appropriate containment. From there, we remove materials that cannot be safely decontaminated, clean and disinfect affected surfaces, address odors when necessary, and package contaminated waste for proper disposal. Items that can be recovered are identified and separated rather than automatically discarded.
We understand that these situations require more than technical cleanup. Our team works quietly and respectfully around family members, property owners, landlords and other people affected by the incident. Unmarked vehicles, discreet arrival procedures and professional communication help protect privacy throughout the process.
We serve homes, apartments, rental properties, businesses and vehicles throughout Nassau County, Suffolk County and all five boroughs of New York City. When you need someone to take responsibility for the cleanup, our team is available 24/7.

What the job includes
Scene Assessment and Containment
Before remediation begins, we inspect the affected areas and determine where biological contamination is present or may have traveled. The work area is isolated as needed to prevent unnecessary movement through contaminated spaces and to protect unaffected portions of the property.
Removal of Contaminated Materials
Some materials cannot be reliably restored after absorbing blood or bodily fluids. Carpet, padding, mattresses, upholstered furniture, sections of flooring, drywall and other porous materials may need to be carefully removed and packaged for disposal.
Blood and Biological Decontamination
Visible blood is only one part of the cleanup. We thoroughly clean affected surfaces and treat them with appropriate professional disinfectants, including surrounding areas that may have been exposed during the incident.
Odor Treatment
When a suicide involves significant biological contamination or the scene has remained undisturbed for a period of time, persistent odors may develop. We address the source of the odor and treat affected areas rather than simply attempting to cover the smell with fragrances.
Belongings and Property Recovery
Not everything at the scene necessarily needs to be discarded. Where appropriate, potentially recoverable belongings are separated from contaminated materials so the family or property owner can determine what should be retained.
Biohazard Waste Handling
Contaminated materials removed during the cleanup are packaged and handled separately from ordinary household or commercial waste. We arrange appropriate transportation and disposal through permitted channels and provide applicable documentation for the work performed.
When to call us
- A suicide has occurred inside a home or apartment. Once law enforcement has released the property, biological contamination may remain on floors, walls, furniture, bedding and other surfaces.
- Blood or bodily fluids are present at the scene. Visible contamination needs to be professionally removed and the affected surfaces properly decontaminated before the area is returned to normal use.
- A bedroom or other private space has been contaminated. Mattresses, carpeting, upholstered furniture and other porous materials can absorb biological fluids and may require specialized removal.
- A suicide has occurred inside a vehicle. Blood and bodily fluids can penetrate seats, carpeting, floor mats and other vehicle materials, creating a cleanup situation that ordinary detailing services are not equipped to handle.
- A rental property has been affected. Landlords and property managers may need professional remediation before a contaminated unit can be safely prepared for its next occupant.
- The family does not want to handle the scene themselves. Families should not have to enter a traumatic scene, determine what is contaminated or manage the removal of biohazardous materials. A professional remediation team can take over those responsibilities.
- A property needs to be cleaned after the investigation is complete. Law enforcement handles the investigation; professional remediation addresses the remaining biological contamination after the scene has been released.
How we handle a suicide cleanup
Call and Confidential Intake
You can contact Biotech Recovery at any hour. A coordinator gathers the necessary information, answers your immediate questions and determines when our team needs to respond.
Scene Assessment
Once the property has been released, our technicians inspect the affected areas and identify blood, bodily fluids, contaminated materials and potential areas of secondary contamination. We then establish the appropriate remediation plan.
Containment and Cleanup
We protect unaffected areas, remove materials that cannot be safely restored, and clean and disinfect affected surfaces. Recoverable belongings are handled separately from materials that require disposal.
Final Decontamination and Disposal
After the primary cleanup is complete, we address remaining contamination and odors as necessary. Biohazardous waste is packaged, transported and disposed of through appropriate channels, with applicable documentation provided to the property owner or responsible party.
